This is possibly the first doodle/quick sketch of 2009?

Been feeling inspired by my new doll/muse, Mirai Yukino chan!

It's nice find some time to sew a bit again :) When I was sewing for Mirai, I realised that I really missed it! Last year I had very little to no time to sew ^^;/

Tried to make Danny choo's Mirai's school uniform for my own Mirai Dollfie Dream! ^^/ Also tried to make a new test blouse today, just some minor tweaks to go, and gotta figure out a more accurate way to do the sleeves to be closer to the actual school uniform. It's fun in the challenging sense ^^!

Recently helped Danny with a chibi Mirai RSS gif image, :D Tanoshii kata (It was fun!)! ^O^ I also currently have her on my site ^^/ Kawaii? ^^;/ Big thanks to Mr. Choo for feature and hijack!

Mirai Yukino chan! Happy 2009!

This is a semi test post! Haven't been able to update my blog for a little bit due to some weird bug ^^;, mucked around a bit and I hope it's working nao (fingers crossed). Like I mentioned before, I am very pleased to managed to get a special arrival before the new year, her name is Mirai Yukino! ^O^ She is a Dollfie Dream :)

What was I doing on New Year eve? Preparing ~~a feast~~ food! :P I got some help here and there and hubs cleaned up most of it (with some help from me of course), so I really shouldn't complain, we also have some left over to help us tide over the ridiculous amount of snow we been getting...
(We're kinda trapped at home again! =_=;)

Party animals! lol Jessie (the Sheltie) belongs to my bro in law ^^ I take Uchi out to meet her sometimes (under supervision of course!)

Thank you everyone for coming back and supporting this simple little site! I am very glad that puppy52.com is still around after so many years and I hope for many more years to come!

Who is Ahmin? A little more information can be found on a past entry of mine here.

Ahmin is retiring from being published in the Chinese Daily paper Lianhe Zaobao in Singapore next year after 10 years of drawing her, she's still an eternal 18 years old, if you must know ;P
But she will still make an occasional appearance on my website, so those who take notice of her and like her, fret not :3!

This morning, I was chatting with an old friend, Rex from furryfish (they specialise in flash animation, graphic and web design) back in Singapore. And he brought up a dog meets hydrant idea when he saw one of my recent photos lol!

I must admit it is not the most unique idea, I mean... what else can happen when a dog meets hydrant?

Rex was inspired by this particular photo I took on the weekend.

I did some image editing in Sai -- can you spot the differences? Then I made some frames in photoshop, and continued drawing and colouring the doggie in Sai.

I was very very thankful that I got a ride to the Mall to work at the shop, as it was really cold yesterday. And I'm having 2 weeks off finally, even tho it'd be busy with other festive activities...

Fan art of Light commission and blood donation attempt

It's been a LONG day but I thought okay I should do an update with actually an artwork before I hit the sack ^^; So Z kindly commissioned me to do a Light Yagami Fan art in Nendoriod/SD form ^^ (for a non commercial personal use). Thanks again Z for your kind support!

It was fun doing this piece and I am very glad you're okay with me showcasing it (partially, cos Z gets the full view lol) :)

Usually with commission work, cost varies with amount of details, size and what it is use for etc :3 I don't always show case every single piece of commission I do, partly due to privacy of the clients and also I tend to showcase what I'm more likely prefer to draw. I hope it does not look like I only draw anime style, I draw other style/stuff too but I preferred to be commissioned on more anime-ish style I guess! :) With my work related stuff usually I will double check with clients (Example Danny and CDE) before I post stuff here.

Why was today such a long day? I went to donate blood with the hubs, it is kinda my 2nd attempt to donate blood, first time I went with a friend (who has since relocated to USA) and my blood iron was barely enough, so I couldn't donate. This time I actually got to the getting my blood drawn stage but I started feeling weird, so the nurses stopped the process ^^; Well hopefully better luck next time :P Hubs managed to donate successfully but he's now so tired he went to bed early. (good boy) :P

For our effort, we got a sticker and a little pin (no pix of that tho) they also gave us juice and cookies aftewards. :)

It was a cold cold day ^^; I guess what made it felt so cold was that the temperature drop was rather sudden, remember on my a day in richmond 2 post, I was remarking that it was unusually warm that day ^^;?

After I came home I donate some blood to work, and I will be hitting the sack after this lol thanks for peekin!

There are just times when I feel that my sketches are kinda blah due to drawing when I feel tired, so I rather not post those. This time I'll share some photos of my hubs' company party which we attended last nite :) As the party went on, it started snowing O_O!

A day in Richmond 2

Before I start on my actual post, I want to thank Meimi132 for showing us her Tare-DC teeshirt and plugging my website on hers and on dannychoo.com :D Thanks so so much, glad you like the tee-shirt ^O^! Also thanks Daemonseed for posting pix of his hoodie as a news item too ^^!

Hmmm I haven't been drawing stuff decent to share this week (ack!) So hope you don't mind a 2nd installment of "A day in Richmond" before I hit the sack today ^^;

I was on time at the bus stop but the bus was late! I decided to start walking around this time... it's almost 4 minutes past the time the bus was supposed to be at the bus stop I was waiting at =_=;

I actually took a slightly different route from my usual way so I could take a picture of the runaway bus :P

I had passed by a couple bus stops by now, and the bus I was waiting for is the 2nd one from our right. It was at least 10 minutes later than it's estimated time of arrival =_=

Welp, walking is good for health lol and since it was a rather nice weather, it wasn't too bad to walk...

But if the bus had been on time, I would have gotten to this place a bit earlier! ^^; Picked up something before I continued walking...

Passed by one of the places hubs and me sometimes go grab Pho ^^ Mmmm MSG lol...

What we had for dinner? Think it was yesterday or the day before, I woke early and had a craving for A&W's burger ^^;;; Guess it's kinda to kill the craving :P

A day in Richmond

It had been a busy weekend! o_o;/
Finally have a little time to resize some photos and do little captions for the new segment in this blog :)

Most of this set of photos was taken last week, during the one day when I go help at my friend's shop in the mall.

It happened to turn out to be a fine day (which I'm not complaining at all). Usually in Winter it's very cold, cloudy and rainy and a lot less daylight, from what I remember of previous few years I lived here. But last week on that day it was even a little warm, when the sun was out for a few hours, which was why I am able to share pictures like his, since I do not have to hold on to my umbrella, bag and fiddle with the camera all at once.

I find that sometimes there's a stray/abandoned shopping cart around the area in general, which is a possible indication that a bum "parked" it there :P I remember that I was told sometimes bums would collect recycleable items to get some spare change (not all do that tho).

Sometimes I wait for the bus around here, if it takes too long I'll start walking. Buses in Richmond seems to be quite notorious for coming as and when they like to. So I could miss my bus if it decided to come a fraction of a minute earlier even if I ran to the bus stop...

I was lucky, bus was on time that day! (picture of a bus across the road)

There's another bus to take to get to the mall but I prefer walking what's left of the distance to the Mall. The trees are now all bald after all the rain and wind...

For some reason, only parts of the path is swept? So the rest of the way I see piles of dead leaves... Maybe they want to use it as fertilizers?

Sometimes I walked through 2 different malls before I get to the actual mall I work at :P
This is a strange little fountain I see, normally they would be kinda spitting water into each other's mouth/faces... They had turned off the fountain since during winter, if the water freezes the pipes would be damaged ^^;

See the track between the building? Well they're not connected to the buildings but they're the sky train tracks, I happened to see a sky train (doing a test round) on it but was too slow to take a picture when it was still in sight ^^;

This Giordano is a rather new branch, if I didn't remember wrong it was only around for about a year or so? Prices seems to be about the same as in Asia. But the styles seems to be more limited.

When I walked in, I came across a school band getting ready for performance, I took advantage of going to lunch to take a video of a bit of their performance :P

While about to tuck into my lunch, I saw a group of little birds settling down on a bare tree. I recalled being super hungry that afternoon so I ordered a combo(click to view food photo) at the White spot stall at the food court. Didn't finish all of it tho, it's a bit ironic as, if I ordered a small fries and drinks it'd cost me more than if I ordered a regular combo ^^; so food is wasted from saving money :P

So after lunch, I would continue shop watching, so the day could be busy or slow, sometimes I do some sketching or hand sewing when it's super slow :P And depending on if we were running low I may do some grocery shopping for fresh vegetables later in the afternoon.

After work around 8.20pm-ish, hubs took me to one of our favorite restaurant for late night sushi ^^; our 2nd order :P Late night sushi usually means the prices of the sushi pieces are slightly discounted, since raw fish cannot be kept for too long without going bad. Our total came to about $21 CAD included tips/taxes. Sometimes we go to have Pho, or if I cooked a lot the night before we'll go home to eat. :)

After we get home, we usually have to do garbage -- collect our trash of the last couple days in our home and put them into a larger bag and trash can that night. Garbage collectors usually come the next morning to collect the trash.

Since we own a fat cat (see above, take note: photo is deceiving) and 2 hamsters, I would clean the hamster's cage and hubs will clean the cat's litter box, it can be quite tiring to do so after a long day lol!

I remember in Singapore back at my parent's apartment flat, there would be a rubbish chute in the kitchen under the sink, where people throw their tied up plastic bags of garbage down. But when the chute door is opened, we could smell garbage if the wind blows upwards (ew!)

Yesterday was at da shop again, did some hand drawn cards as I carelessly did not order enough cards to send out! (doh!) But the people who're getting the original version, I hope they like it cos I think they turned out better than I expected :D

I managed to take a picture before I seal and pack the hand drawn cards so here's a lookie! :3 I used my trusty pilot drawing pen (size 0.3) and copic markers to draw and colour them since I don't have access to my computer/printer at the shop ^^;/ Background for this little collage below is added in photoshop at home tho ^^;/

Top left, Uchi xmas version ^^/, cupcake (For a birthday card)
Bottom left, white xmas bear in xmas socks and SD santa girl ^^

I may recolour Uchi in computer later on (took a picture of the ink art before I coloured with markers) ^^

And oh yesterday before I left for the shop, was informed that zazzle had featured a card template I recently made under Today's best of December 4th!

Mirai sukumizu commission

I'm a big fan of dannychoo.com's 2 adorable mascots and I am trilled to be able to work with Danny to create some custom outfits for Mirai and Haruka :D. I guess the main challenge is to as seamlessly create the outfits in a style which match as closely and naturally to Azami Yuko sensei's style.

I used a combination of Sai and a little bit of photoshop to create the outfits. And oh Dolphin san makes a special appearance by special request...

So which do you like better? White? Or Blue? Where's the white sukumizu(the swimsuit) you say? You'll be able to find Mirai in the white version on dannychoo.com ;D (link inserted)

Zazzle new T-shirts designs and commissioned work

So some of you may have noticed that I had put up a couple of Zazzle shirts with fan art of Danny's lovely Suenaga sisters. Was gonna write about it sooner but got a bit busy with other stuff ^^;

So these few months, I had been pulled to do some non "doll" related work for cartoondollemporium (CDE), I am quite happy with what I had done, so I asked for permission to showcase some here.

The artwork below are all created in flash and it was quite challenging and rather time consuming to make little details via vector. I prefer to use the mouse to work with when drawing in flash as it gives me the cleaner edges I prefer for my artwork.

My personal favorite has to be the kitchen ^^! There are a few items in there were inspired by our own kitchen :P

Living room 1: a close 2nd to the kitchen, but I probably wouldn't have this kinda pink for my walls lol

Living room 2: I like how the fire turned out ^^/

So just in case you peeps might be tired about me and my zazzle related posts, I will just keep the latest images as thumbnails for now lol! I have washed my Tare DC mascot Tee, and ironed the inside out of the shirt (Instructions which came with the teeshirt mentioned not to iron on the image).

I think due to the material of the T-shirt I picked, it's a little fuzzy, I'll have to wash my Puppy52 mascot T-shirt to see if it has the same effect, but if anything, the blacks are really black so far, from what I can tell. ^^

At my next update, I'll probably be posting some of my cartoondollemporium related work, been working so hard on them must show a bit :P

Kita! (it's here!)

Took a little while, but my Tare-DC mascot tee finally arrived (Woot!) As we're allowed to choose our own style of teeshirts to go with the image, I ordered the Ladies Ringer T-shirt in size S. I also ordered one of this, but surprisingly it's not here yet even tho I ordered around the same time... :P Probably thanks to the custom delay? ^^;

The T-shirt's currently in the wash, but I couldn't resist bugging my husband (working from home) to help me take some pictures before throwing it in the washing machine... other than the one above he took another one which made me went ???

Also took a couple close up shots with da point and shoot camera ^^; Sorry for the strange colour, using my desk lamp ^^; Will take some pix again when it's outta the wash ^^/

Doodle of childhood memory

A news post by burford on dannychoo.com prompted me to quickly make this doodle in Sai when I had a chance today amidst the super jam packed weekend ^^;

I think I only acquired glasses when I was in primary three (9-10 years old), and before I entered my primary school I had super long hair. ^^; So this was when I was in Primary one, when I already had my hair chopped off due to school rules ;_; When I had to have my hair cut off, I definitely remember that I cried ^^; I think because of my double eyelids I often look kinda sleepy? ^^; Also remember at that age I was kinda dark :P

I got an idea to do some photoshop meddling with 2 of Mirai's images from Danny's recent Suenaga T-shirts news post! So what I have done is kinda somewhat merged (with bits of redrawing) Mirai's image/Mirai maid pose together ^O^/ If you haven't already noticed the Suenaga sisters' recent page updates, go check it out!

After I showed Danny for a peek, he requested a little detail, can you find it? ;)

Happy late Halloween!

Couldn't managed to finish a halloween art in colour ;_;
couple days back, made a halloween paper hand puppet tutorial for dolls tho :3

And a wonderful thing happened this afternoon, my teeshirts I ordered (even before I created dannychoo mascot tees) finally came in the mail ^^; I think it is mostly due to a long weekend "bump" which caused my mail to be trapped at customs ^^; I had people joked that the people at customs were wearing my tees and I gonna get armpitstains on my shirts ^^;;;

So I ordered three shirts to star along with some other items which arrived sooner than the teeshirts. The dark teeshirts take a bit longer to be printed, so the shirts were sent out a bit later. I ordered the wrong size for my third teeshirt tho! SO, I wonder if I should list it somewhere for sale for someone's daughter ^^; Or something... Not to worry no armpit stains on that tee ^^; Here's couple pix of me and hubs wearing our tees.

My Meow in box teeshirt is somewhat fitted, and made of a thinner material but it's very soft to the touch and the image is very nicely printed on, almost as if they printed directly on the teeshirt ^^; Please excuse if I look like I am ready for winter (tubby) :P

Husband's Puppy shock teeshirt's print is very nice and vibrant colour, at first we thought the teeshirt was a bit big, but thankfully it fits fine, just a bit long. ^^

I will write a feedback again when I have a chance to wash both tees lol, to those who are curious no there is no armpit stains, not to worry lol!

Any one dressed up for Halloween? Or went trick and treating?
This year me and my husband were pretty last minute -- he bought his "nail thru head" for $5 at a shop during lunch time. I think he liked it a lot as he was wearing it almost all afternoon, even when he was cleaning in the kitchen ^^; I made mine super quickly before I baked some muffins, we had his siblings and spouses over for dinner (potluck) :P

This image was inspired by something my hubby said when we saw a text printed on the back of a pantsu at a clothing store on sunday lol! It's obviously not completed yet as I need to find time to colour ^^;

Question tho, do you think you will buy a print of an image (full coloured) like this -- as in girl showing Pantsu?

I did of a sketch of chris from cutewithchris.com about a few weeks ago ^^; Got to quickly vector arted it :P I'll pop it in my Gallery when I have a chance later on ^^ Once in a while I do take portriat-ish commissions but I prefer to draw more anime-mangaish style stuff so it's quite rare that I do it ^^; I also tend to make guys look like girls ^^;;;;;

Zazzle products GET!

I purchased some of my own products a while back, they were shipped about 11-12 days ago and now some of them are here -- the teeshirts I ordered take a bit longer to make so they were shipped a bit later, and also due to customs possibly it may be a bit longer before I get the teeshirts ^^; I will for sure be making some notes and posting them here when they arrive :)

The items below individually and appropriately packed/shipped, so they don't bump into each other and get damaged, and these batch arrived at same time ^^/

So far, some observations:
Postcards: Very vibrant colours, glossy finish, matt writing surface. Am thinking to do a limited offer to send a postcard to those who bought the tees from my Zazzle :P but I think I need to order some more first also ^^; If you're interested I made the postcard above a public item as well ^^/

Magnet: I think the magnet piece at the back is not very strong so you probably can use it to temporarily stick a note or recipe or a coupon on the fridge or a metal notice board.

Calendar: Nice matt finish on the images, I find the holidays text a bit lightly printed, bit it is also USA based so I probably won't use it to tell me about holidays ^^;

I didn't have time to compose a calender for puppy52.com just yet, so I purchased a super adorable Hamster calender from Seattle Roll's Zazzle :D You can see more of Seattle Roll's goregous photos at flickr ^^/

Today I didn't draw much at the shop ^^; I however did some hand sewing and sketched what I am showing below tho ^^

I remember I wanted to do some schoolgirls art for some products, but I haven't inked those I wanted to colour lol! I have quite a bit of illustration work to do for a dateline so feel a bit burn out staring at computer to cg ;_; maybe I should paint some natural mediums when the deadline's over ^^;

Hi everyone, I apologise again for the lack of drawing updates, Halloween is coming, next comes Christmas which that means I am pretty busy with CDE related work, I had been pulled back into non flash doll related work with CDE ^^;/

Anyways at the shop yesterday I did a few quick/rough sketches :)

I have some questions for you people who come back to view my artwork, I'm curious to if any one of you would buy cards/postcards/posters of my non colour sketches? Or would you prefer something full coloured? Input is greatly welcome :)

I felt motivated by one of my very talented online friend, missmonster, to make a Zazzle page for myself when I saw that she had designed a really neat looking pair of shoes thru Zazzle.

To promote my own Zazzle gallery, the image above's poses was roughly referred from 2 of the models on Zazzle's page ^^. I have thus far added a few tee-shirt designs and fridge magnets, I'll be trying to think of more designs in future (hopefully won't get too busy or lazy :P). Larger version of the image above can be found in Gallery page or as a text link under the image above ^^/

Currently only Ladies/Girl tees are available, but I am thinking of some designs which hopefully guys would wear -- design may be placed at the back of tee as suggested by someone *cough* -- you know who you are :P

There's something about Blythes

Disclaimer: I know not many people like dolls, and even less so blythe dolls, so I am not directly linking up to the photo which I was inspired from for that reason.

The image below is heavily inspired by a photo of one of my dolly friends took on flickr :)

I would say blythes was somewhat an "acquired taste" for me. My first "encounter" with blythe photographs online was one of her head opened, with all the inside eye mechanisms exposed, not the prettiest image for a first timer I must say!

I was of course rather freaked out initially, but over time I see more photos of blythe dolls taken all over world, going places, wearing clothing accessories lovingly hand made or purchased by their owners, in little photo stories... having different looks and occupations... and I guess I fell in love! :)

I discovered I could sew small clothing for this large big eyed girl with a smaller than barbie body, and realized I found an unexpected muse for myself after having relocated a few years ago, I haven't really looked back I guess! :) Blythe is still my favourite doll so far, why? Big head, check, big eyes, check, barely any nose, check, little mouth, check...! For some reason I can't get enough of her even tho I have other types of dolls in my collection I play with my blythes the most!

I apologize for the lack of posts, drawings etc ^^; been busy work life etc, and sometimes drawing have to take a back seat ^^;

Tumblred, a bit of pets tactics, a bit of flowers, and food at the end :P

In between some time I painted... faces on fabric, made these 2 bit by bit over a few days ^^; quite tricky to make ^^; I guess I could make these cos some parts of them are hand sewn, I can stay in front of the computer to do that :P A few more pix at puppy52doll.com :)

Quick inking scans and rambles

Felt like a while since I posted any art posts! Sorry about that! Here are a couple scans of some quick inking practices. The thing with inking with real pen and paper is that there is no "control z" so if I made any mistakes there's no real turning back ^^;;; and I do not like to use white out (liquid paper?) If I do cleaning up in the computer, it takes way too long ^O^; But inking with pen is good practice for precision artwork ^^;/

While working at the shop on Thursdays ~~when business is a bit slow~~, I read some scanlations online, some of the artworks I came across is really inspiring ^O^! Recently I especially enjoyed work by Minami Maki. Found her work while randomly clicking on the scanlation pages ^^; Love the detailing she put into the hair and eyes, and not to mention omakes crack me up so bad sometimes :P Her works are more Shoujo Manga tho, so guys may not like it as much me thinks?

Sorry, no real CGs but yesterday while at the shop I did doodled :P practiced inking on a few of them :)

Below's who else in "nendoroid style" Top left one I was inspired by when I curled my hair to attend a wedding and I rarely dress nicely so drew that down lol, realised I forgot to add the belt ^^;
Top right me wearing my mascot pup's outfit ^^; and the bottom one, I was feeling very sleepy at the shop...

Below is the other sketch I was happy with, too bad I only have the sketch pad which the ink bleeds quite a bit :P To be honest I still enjoy drawing with natural medium rather than the computer ^^;

This MONTH has been pretty crazy so far, other than tons of personal errands, a wedding to attend, activities with out of town relatives etc etc etc, it was almost as if we're trying to squeeze everything into the last bits of summer ^^; Here's a back dated food related tumblr, view at own risk (esp if U're hungry and there's no access to food) you been warned ^^;

On a non food abuse related note, Meow ~~and me~~ got into the feature video on cutewithchris.com! ~~Won't tell you which one is me~~ lol! It was only a passing split second, Meowmeow was on for longer at the end ;P

Sorry for not posting much for a bit, September just turned out to be a lot busier than expected (not just work wise) so that meant less time for colouring and personal artwork ;_;

Anyways here's a big Thank you art for all those who visited, commented, linked up etc etc etc! :D I'm normally not very good at keeping track of record hit counts but heart felt thanks from me and my mascot characters :P I'm also excited to say that on 7th September we got a record setting number of page impressions on puppy52.com :) If I did not read the data wrongly I think a lot of them came from dannychoo.com (Domo Arigato!!!)

A little information about the "Thank you" image above, I tried to ink on a sketch pad, but unfortunately the paper tend to make the line art "bleed" so I apologise for the rough edges on the image above ^^;;

And a scan of some older practice sketches done end of August ^^/

And one from earlier this month (3 guys, 2 SD girls) I rarely draw guys, lol!

As some (if not all) of you had seen, I doodled Danny choo and his 2 adorable mascots nendoroid style ^^/! Danny doodle was drawn straight with Sai, and Haruka and Mirai were sketched on paper first before "inking" in Sai ^^/ (What is Sai?)
I hope to find time to colour ^^; Danny doodle will probably be completed the quickest since he's mostly in black :3

Tried some other tools in Sai, very quick fills done, haven't really figured out the program fully just yet, so background was quickly done in photoshop, may redo it later in Sai of course.

There are different ways and methods I use when I colour my artwork.

Usually the line art -- either scanned image, or inked in the computer -- is in a separate layer, and similar or same colours or items (example, hair, clothing, skintone etc) in different layers. I noticed that in photoshop the file will become huge as more layers, shading and effects are added.

In Sai, the image refreshes and saves quickly, something I really like since it definitely saves some time. Also multi control-Z is definitely a plus ^^. In this current work in progress, I fill some base colours (in separate layers) first, this method allows me a quick over view of the overall colour schemes and when I finalise colours I will do shading later. This method is neater in a way that we can re-select the filled in parts, keeping most shading within the base colours.

In the previous "That cat girl" I used a slightly more time consuming and messier method, where I shade roughly around and then erase the strokes which bleeded outside of the line art.

Sai program getto p(^O^)q

I was pleasantly surprised that they had an english version of a page which I previously only saw a Japanese version of, and realised omg I could get the license to use it since I like it a lot :P The line and brush strokes feels more natural on this little programe than photoshop ^^; I'm not used to the wand tool in Sai just yet so am using a different method to colour, the colours leaking out will be erased near the end -- which is why the colours are bleeding on the edge. I'm not done colouring this image yet of course :P

Was rather busy on Friday, so did not scan my sketches from thursday ^^;
I sketched some ideas for some doll related sewing, couldn't resist drawing thus "Alice in wonderland" inspired themed girl ;)

Sketching is always quick, but refining and colouring are time consuming, hopefully will find some time to colour something soon! ^O^;

New toy -- Bamboo Wacom tablet

While out and about with the husband on Sunday, we came across this slick looking Bamboo drawing tablet which was at a reasonable price, so we decided to get it for me to try it out.

I remember seeing an entry called Anime paperchild on 望み - What is that you desire?
And decided to try my hand at making one with my new "toy".

Here she is, having tea in her yukata on my tablet ^^ I was going to colour her, but thought to make a black and white version first ^^ I did a rough sketch in pencil and paper, then "inked" and shaded her in photoshop.
After that I printed her out on our inkjet printer and cut her out. Took a few shots, and decided this one looks the best of the lot.

Tried putting her on my laptop also ^^

Since she turned out rather cute, I hope to find time to colour her eventually, possibly after my deadline later this week ^O^; meanwhile, here's the version in grey :3

So yesterday I was working at the shop again, so I had some time to sketch a bit ^^

I'll feature my favourite of the three at the top :P Dunno why I got this idea LOL the triangle mouth was drawn after I couldn't decide on the mouth ^^; the SD on the side could be better lol but the idea is there :P

Anyhows, yes another Ranka Lee fan art (LOL) I didn't have reference to the bottom part of her dress, so I improvised :P
I wonder if I am a closet Ranka Lee fan in denial? :P
I tried to draw Sheryl too but I made her look horrible, so I not showing :P

I walked to work cos I missed the bus (oops)
and walked passed this visual (well from memory) I suppose if I painted it or shaded a bit more it'd look less flat :P And yes I do draw (try to) other stuff other than girls ^^

Did a quick art for practice (within an hour plus) completely in computer, no tracing of a scanned line art ^^ my Sai application has since expired so I used a more round about way to use it just for "inking" since I preferred the line quality :) Currently, you can click on the image below to get a slightly larger version. This image is also updated onto the Gallery page under colour ^^/

Some of you may have noticed this little guy on the side since yesterday? As inspired by the adorable Hatsune Miku clock on some of you peep's blogs out there, in between 2342346876 things to do, I was researching on how to make my own blog clock lol, I suppose maybe someday I will try to see if I can allow the clock to be used elsewhere if anyone is interested? Also I got some suggestions regarding the Puppy's reaction, like making it poop and such, will.... think about it lol

Also finally decided to close the poll on the side for now, looks like the gallery is staying as is for now :P Thanks everyone for voting!

Sorry for being MIA for a few days ^^; Had been kinda under the weather over the weekend :( and was busy with work last week =_=;

Moro and Maru Inked, material talk

Recently had been watching xxxHolic Kei love it, recommend it ^^ nice catchy opening/ending tracks too :D I was reminded I wanted to draw these 2 little characters for a while now so here they are! Image is slightly processed on photoshop to give it the colour tinge ^^

I have been ask on a few occasions what kind of paper/pen/pencils/materials do I use.
I personally do have a few preferences, but I find that it doesn't hurt to try out different/new materials when we do not have our actual tools at hand :)

When I was in my teens, I had also tried stuff like the fancy G-nibs -- they were really difficult to come by at the time and a fellow artist gave me a few ^^; (G-nibs is the kind which you need to dip into an ink pot, and you end up dripping a splash of ink on your almost finished work and you bleep bleep bleep :P). Also gotten expensive Manga drafting paper but unfortunately with the latter I couldn't bear to use it (so wasted some money ^^; ) Also bought screen tones, but with the ease of computer, those quickly got phased out ^^;;;

I started drawing when I was still a student (meaning not a lot of money to throw around) so I eventually picked up some tools and materials which I felt that are affordable and good :)

So below as listed is my usual weapons (LOL) based in when I live in Singapore, cost varies quite a bit in Canada ^^;

Pencil: 2B 0.5 mechanical pencils (no real preference for brands)

Eraser: Mono erasers (have not found any other brand which beats how good this is)

Pen: Pilot Drawing Pen or Pigma Micron the latter is more expensive ^^; I usually use 0.3, 0.5 is good if I want to colour some parts black. These pens are pretty long lasting :)

Paper: 80g photocopying paper (any thinner ink tend to bleed, and paper is kinda "see thru", any thicker is nice but more expensive)

I use watercolour occasionally even tho I colour with the computer a lot these days. It is always good to practice without being reliant on "control + z" ^^

Recently I forgot to bring a sketch book/paper to the shop I work a day per week, so I bought a couple sketch pads from Daiso, unfortunately one of the sketch book's backing started to warp after I took it out of the plastic bag which contains it (not sure if it was cos it was too humid?) ^^; I drew the above Fan art in it, started inking it, the good thing is it does not bleed (bleed= ink spread out on paper giving a fuzzy edge). But it was fine for sketching down ideas during slower hours of the day ^^

If I have an idea I want to put on paper and have no paper, I'll grab other stuff to draw on. I used to draw a lot on the back of my hand to remind me stuff to do or ideas I had ^^ (but that got a bit unsightly :P sometimes napkins work for jotting down ideas :3 And of course I know a lot of us like to draw on our textbooks when the lecture started making us nod off ^^;

So what was keeping me rather busy for a while now was this new game/doll for cartoondollemporium, I'm quite happy with 2 of the hidden animals in this game XD

Be warned tho, there's plenty of sound effects for this game so please turn down your volume if U view it late at nite :3

Hmmm this week was pretty much whipped to finish some work, so didn't really have time to draw much, today took a little time off, cleaned up one of the simpler line art from the previous post, and started colouring a bit :P Doesn't look too bad in this mode no?

I also sketched roughly and quickly a couple fan arts, not scanned yet tho ^^; maybe eventually :P

We were trilled to find out that Danny was interested to use some of the images I had mucked around with, in his site's header pool and also for the "is ecchi" images thumbnail (LOL)!

Mind you, the original character artworks are created by the most talented Azami yuko sensei ^^/ I only tried my hand at creating some layers for the more goofy expressions (as you can see on the image below). For a clearer look at the bigger images, you can check out this link :)

It all originated from the Wonfes Hatsune Miku news post, where Danny was requesting his readers for attempts to give his 2 adorable sister mascots, Mirai and Haruka extra facial expressions :) You'll find some interesting variants by some of the talented readers on that news page as well :D

so the first one... guess who? Ok I'm really not that cute but who doesn't look cute in SD mode?

I really like how this 2nd featured image turned out, I hope I will get around colouring her, I even have a background in mind ^^! I'm not sure if anyone ever knew of my first ever website lol it was hosted on pacificnet (LOL)! And the first image I posted for that website was a kentauride (female Centaur), so it feels kinda nostalgic :)

I know I rarely draw guys, the character at the bottom left corner of this last image is supposed to be one... lol

Without the internet, sketching is a nice way to distract myself during the slower hours at the shop ^^ I drew more than just these actually, but I picked those I like more to scan :)

This weekend it got rather hot, been feeling kinda dehydrated and hot while working from home =_=;;; Drank a lot of water, ate fruits and had ice cream ^^

Thankfully this evening is not too hot, last evening was just cookin!
I had to tweak her right eye a bit when I "inked" this out in Sai ^^ so in the end she doesn't look exactly like the sketch I drew ^^; And now that I look at it again I think I gotta fix the stick looks a tad long ^^; But hope ya all like her ^^/

Commission work - Mascot of Gordonator Part 3

Herru, felt like long time no blog ^^; Over the weekend, husband helped me reinstall my laptop's OS, and that took a little bit longer to finish up.

On a better note, Gordon's "million dollar" mascot is finally somewhat completed. Unfortunately other than the million dollar fund transfer, my promised blythe doll in the mail has not arrived yet... (just kidding! :P) So I won't be showing the full version just yet :P

Commission work - Mascot of Gordonator

Made a deal with the gordonator to draw his blog's mascot for one million dollars... (LOL)

Once in a while when I feel inspired (or need some extra cash on the side), I do take commissions for illustration work. Pricing varies with the amount of details, whether or not there's colouring, background involved, how soon it is needed -- meaning the the more work/less time given for me to finish = I charge more etc etc. I do commission work a lot less these days as I am quite busy with my work with cartoondollemporium.

I know some of my artist friends open"slots" every other month open to have people commission them to draw some artwork, but I have not really done anything like that just yet. Other than work based illustrations I would like to have time to draw my own drawings ^^; This is when I wish I have 3 more drawing arms to help me out :P

So glad I got a flash doll finished yesterday! I present to you Lollibunny ! I hope you like her!

Actually asked Husband to check her out after I was done, he said with long straight pink hair this doll reminds him of Moka Akashiya (赤夜萌香, Akashiya Moka) from Rosario + Vampire. I had to LOL when I heard that XD we had been watching the series out of boredom :P

Was talking to a few peeps about giving out stuff (yes you did not read wrongly) on my site, sorry it probably won't be figures ^^; I don't get figures for free (like a certain someone *cough* lol)

Things cost a lot more here than in Asia, and shipping on top of it just makes it not very worth while =_=; I'm not earning a lot (yet), sad to say lol
If anything it might be a publication included an original sketch (or something)... any interests? May put it as a lucky draw or contest :P Comments are welcome ^^/

Also, I must apologize for the lack of artwork these days, just been too busy ^^;
