Got Moo and some news!

Thank you everyone for coming back and supporting this simple little site! I am very glad that puppy52.com is still around after so many years and I hope for many more years to come!

I also finally updated the previous 2 images into Gallery page plus an Ahmin Happy 2009 artwork!
Who is Ahmin? A little more information can be found on a past entry of mine here.

Ahmin is retiring from being published in the Chinese Daily paper Lianhe Zaobao in Singapore next year after 10 years of drawing her, she's still an eternal 18 years old, if you must know ;P
But she will still make an occasional appearance on my website, so those who take notice of her and like her, fret not :3!

Ahmin drawing above is sketched in pencil, inked with a pilot drawing pen and cleaned up and coloured in Sai, text and slight effects added quickly in Photoshop.

I also have an update on puppy52doll.com of a new arrival, I "blame" a particular *cough*person*cough* for tempting me :P But I must say I am trilled the package arrived sooner than expected! :D

So earlier this morning I had an idea which I put on paper, and just continued to ink in Sai, etc.
I'll post the final art next year -- which is coming very soon! Time sure flies huh o_o;

So plans for christmas? Not too exciting, gotta make a couple dishes for a potluck dinner tonite lol I hope the roads are clear enough for us to head out and not get trapped in snow or a large puddle of melted snow ^^;

We easily had at least a foot thick of snow yesterday ^^; I was up to knee deep in snow when I walked out to check mail ^^; Walking in snow sounds kinda squeaky :P I almost twisted my ankle a couple times cos the footing is not solid ^^;

A day in... snow cat

Today on my way out to get mail I saw a couple kids playing in the snow, like 1 foot deep kinda snow ^^; After I started walking back home I couldn't resist the temptation anymore..... and the result is....

It's snowing and snowing and snowing ^^; So this morning I stayed in bed and doodled with Sai and my bamboo tablet ^^; background and text done in photoshop - just because it's faster to do it in photoshop lol!

This morning, I was chatting with an old friend, Rex from furryfish (they specialise in flash animation, graphic and web design) back in Singapore. And he brought up a dog meets hydrant idea when he saw one of my recent photos lol!

I must admit it is not the most unique idea, I mean... what else can happen when a dog meets hydrant?

Rex was inspired by this particular photo I took on the weekend.

I did some image editing in Sai -- can you spot the differences? Then I made some frames in photoshop, and continued drawing and colouring the doggie in Sai.

It had been snowy, frosty and cold this week, but it made for some fun snow scene photoshoot :)

I was very very thankful that I got a ride to the Mall to work at the shop, as it was really cold yesterday. And I'm having 2 weeks off finally, even tho it'd be busy with other festive activities...

Fan art of Light commission and blood donation attempt

It's been a LONG day but I thought okay I should do an update with actually an artwork before I hit the sack ^^; So Z kindly commissioned me to do a Light Yagami Fan art in Nendoriod/SD form ^^ (for a non commercial personal use). Thanks again Z for your kind support!

It was fun doing this piece and I am very glad you're okay with me showcasing it (partially, cos Z gets the full view lol) :)



Usually with commission work, cost varies with amount of details, size and what it is use for etc :3 I don't always show case every single piece of commission I do, partly due to privacy of the clients and also I tend to showcase what I'm more likely prefer to draw. I hope it does not look like I only draw anime style, I draw other style/stuff too but I preferred to be commissioned on more anime-ish style I guess! :) With my work related stuff usually I will double check with clients (Example Danny and CDE) before I post stuff here.

Why was today such a long day? I went to donate blood with the hubs, it is kinda my 2nd attempt to donate blood, first time I went with a friend (who has since relocated to USA) and my blood iron was barely enough, so I couldn't donate. This time I actually got to the getting my blood drawn stage but I started feeling weird, so the nurses stopped the process ^^; Well hopefully better luck next time :P Hubs managed to donate successfully but he's now so tired he went to bed early. (good boy) :P

For our effort, we got a sticker and a little pin (no pix of that tho) they also gave us juice and cookies aftewards. :)


It was a cold cold day ^^; I guess what made it felt so cold was that the temperature drop was rather sudden, remember on my a day in richmond 2 post, I was remarking that it was unusually warm that day ^^;?









After I came home I donate some blood to work, and I will be hitting the sack after this lol thanks for peekin!

There are just times when I feel that my sketches are kinda blah due to drawing when I feel tired, so I rather not post those. This time I'll share some photos of my hubs' company party which we attended last nite :) As the party went on, it started snowing O_O!

I have some food pix, no chance to edit them yet ^^; so I will share some random pix from during the dinner ^^: found this little red star in the small table top tree ^^; so I put it near the top :P

A day in Richmond 2

Before I start on my actual post, I want to thank Meimi132 for showing us her Tare-DC teeshirt and plugging my website on hers and on dannychoo.com :D Thanks so so much, glad you like the tee-shirt ^O^! Also thanks Daemonseed for posting pix of his hoodie as a news item  too ^^!

Hmmm I haven't been drawing stuff decent to share this week (ack!) So hope you don't mind a 2nd installment of "A day in Richmond" before I hit the sack today ^^;


I was on time at the bus stop but the bus was late! I decided to start walking around this time... it's almost 4 minutes past the time the bus was supposed to be at the bus stop I was waiting at =_=;


I actually took a slightly different route from my usual way so I could take a picture of the runaway bus :P

I had passed by a couple bus stops by now, and the bus I was waiting for is the 2nd one from our right.  It was at least 10 minutes later than it's estimated time of arrival =_=


Welp, walking is good for health lol and since it was a rather nice weather, it wasn't too bad to walk...

But if the bus had been on time, I would have gotten to this place a bit earlier! ^^; Picked up something before I continued walking...


Passed by one of the places hubs and me sometimes go grab Pho ^^ Mmmm MSG lol...

What we had for dinner? Think it was yesterday or the day before, I woke early and had a craving for A&W's burger ^^;;; Guess it's kinda to kill the craving :P

A day in Richmond

It had been a busy weekend! o_o;/
Finally have a little time to resize some photos and do little captions for the new segment in this blog :)


Most of this set of photos was taken last week, during the one day when I go help at my friend's shop in the mall.

It happened to turn out to be a fine day (which I'm not complaining at all). Usually in Winter it's very cold, cloudy and rainy and a lot less daylight, from what I remember of previous few years I lived here. But last week on that day it was even a little warm, when the sun was out for a few hours, which was why I am able to share pictures like his, since I do not have to hold on to my umbrella, bag and fiddle with the camera all at once.

I find that sometimes there's a stray/abandoned shopping cart around the area in general, which is a possible indication that a bum "parked" it there :P I remember that I was told sometimes bums would collect recycleable items to get some spare change (not all do that tho).


Sometimes I wait for the bus around here, if it takes too long I'll start walking. Buses in Richmond seems to be quite notorious for coming as and when they like to. So I could miss my bus if it decided to come a fraction of a minute earlier even if I ran to the bus stop...


I was lucky, bus was on time that day! (picture of a bus across the road)


There's another bus to take to get to the mall but I prefer walking what's left of the distance to the Mall. The trees are now all bald after all the rain and wind...


For some reason, only parts of the path is swept? So the rest of the way I see piles of dead leaves... Maybe they want to use it as fertilizers?




Sometimes I walked through 2 different malls before I get to the actual mall I work at :P
This is a strange little fountain I see, normally they would be kinda spitting water into each other's mouth/faces... They had turned off the fountain since during winter, if the water freezes the pipes would be damaged ^^;


See the track between the building? Well they're not connected to the buildings but they're the sky train tracks, I happened to see a sky train (doing a test round) on it but was too slow to take a picture when it was still in sight ^^;


This Giordano is a rather new branch, if I didn't remember wrong it was only around for about a year or so? Prices seems to be about the same as in Asia. But the styles seems to be more limited.


When I walked in, I came across a school band getting ready for performance, I took advantage of going to lunch to take a video of a bit of their performance :P





While about to tuck into my lunch, I saw a group of little birds settling down on a bare tree. I recalled being super hungry that afternoon so I ordered a combo(click to view food photo) at the White spot stall at the food court. Didn't finish all of it tho, it's a bit ironic as, if I ordered a small fries and drinks it'd cost me more than if I ordered a regular combo ^^; so food is wasted from saving money :P



So after lunch, I would continue shop watching, so the day could be busy or slow, sometimes I do some sketching or hand sewing when it's super slow :P And depending on if we were running low I may do some grocery shopping for fresh vegetables later in the afternoon.

After work around 8.20pm-ish, hubs took me to one of our favorite restaurant for late night sushi ^^; our 2nd order :P Late night sushi usually means the prices of the sushi pieces are slightly discounted, since raw fish cannot be kept for too long without going bad. Our total came to about $21 CAD included tips/taxes. Sometimes we go to have Pho, or if I cooked a lot the night before we'll go home to eat. :)



After we get home, we usually have to do garbage -- collect our trash of the last couple days in our home and put them into a larger bag and trash can that night. Garbage collectors usually come the next morning to collect the trash.


Since we own a fat cat (see above, take note: photo is deceiving) and 2 hamsters, I would clean the hamster's cage and hubs will clean the cat's litter box, it can be quite tiring to do so after a long day lol!

I remember in Singapore back at my parent's apartment flat, there would be a rubbish chute in the kitchen under the sink, where people throw their tied up plastic bags of garbage down. But when the chute door is opened, we could smell garbage if the wind blows upwards (ew!)
